ENoP Working Group has adopted the proposal of the International Education Center

enop helsinki webZagreb, 16th March 2016 – ENoP Working Group has adopted the proposal of the International Education Center, for the foundations to actively participate in the political education of Syrian refugees. The proposal was adopted on 14th March in Helsinki before the seminar on the prevention and transformation of conflicts in the European neighborhood and the role of development aid.

The seminar was organized by the European network of political foundations (ENoP), Kalevi Sorsa Foundation and Visio Foundation, and the International Education Centre, whose member is CPP's Political Academy, was presented by Goran Neralić, president of the Center.

In the first part of the seminar participants had the opportunity to listen about the current developments in the theoretical analysis of prevention and conflict transformation by Mark Lehti, director of educational programs of peace studies at the Research Center in Tampere, Finland. In addition of the seminar Pekka Haavisto, Member of Parliament of Finland spoke about the practical experience in the field of peace-building in countries such as Afghanistan and Somalia.

In the second part of the seminar a panel discussion was held in which representatives of political foundations have presented their work to support democratization and peace. Also, at the panel has participated Joumana Seif, an activist of the civil society and the representative of the Syrian Women's Network, which is currently participating in the work of the advisory committee of the Syrian opposition on the peace process in Syria.

Before the seminar there was a meeting of the Working Group for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy, which discussed the annual work program of the Working Group. At the initiative of Goran Neralić, President of IEC, the Working Group adopted a recommendation that the ENOP gets involved in education and strengthening the capacity of Syrian refugees, especially those who wish to return home to participate in the democratic political life.

Rebecca Wagner, Chairwoman of the Working Group will the project proposal, which should be financed within the framework of the Erasmus + program, present to the General Assembly of ENOP-which will be held in Brussels this week.
