Zagreb, January 17, 2015 – Political Academy and PR Office of HNS held a seminar for spokespersons and lecturers of HNS's County Organizations as well as secretaries of regional alliances on the topic of „New media and the internal organization of PR".
Seminar's participants were greeted by the director of the Political Academy and a member of the parliament Boris Blažeković who, in his introductory words, reflected on the results of the presidential elections by saying that we should all be proud of HNS's County Organizations which greatly contributed to Mr. Josipović's campaign.
While talking about the upcoming parliamentary elections, Blažeković highlighted the role of new media and the internal organization of PR as well as new insights and skills in that area as key factors in getting a good result. He also added that new media could be crucial in mobilizing abstinent voters, especially those under the age of 30, who rarely turn out at the polls.
„Campaign can change the course of elections, which was shown during the last presidential elections", concluded Boris Blažeković.
Spokesperson of HNS and MP Igor Kolman said that for a successful campaign, you need recognizable and clear messages, personal communication with citizens, media exposure, especially in the local media, and off course social networks.
„Bill Clinton wrote in his biography that he won his second term by shaking hands with two million people, and this did not cost a thing", said Kolman who used the example to highlight the importance of direct communication with citizens.
Seminar underlined the importance of new media in election campaigns, which can be considered as an added value in the process. New media allows for reduction in financial costs of the campaigns, while political activities can be conducted for 365 days in a year.
In conclusion of the seminar, HNS's director of communications Renata Potočnik spoke on how to properly organize PR activities in order to achieve the desired goals, while participants could immediately implement their newfound knowledge in a workshop titled „With plan and organization to a successful campaign".
