varazdinke sabor webZagreb, 12th March 2015 - "Women have to work on their self-esteem and be more involved in politics at all levels", said at the beginning of the meeting in the Academy the President of Women's Initiative and CPP's Member of Parliament Sonja König to the members of Women's Initiative of Varaždinska County organization that visited the Croatian Parliament and the Academy.

Following the introductory remarks König pointed out the importance of a new Election Law that provides the representation of at least 40 percent of women on the candidate lists ie. The introduction of so-called quotas.

"This is a big step forward in gender equality to be achieved by amending the Election Law. The idea is that these lists of candidates begin to apply to local elections. This is not only good for women but also for men. This is supported by a research on the development index, which showed that the local and regional self-government which is headed by a woman is much more developed", concluded König and invited the members to participate in the contest of CPP's Women's Initiative for the selection of the best picture titled"Women and Politics", which runs until the end of 2015.
